New Nationwide Hospital/Medical
Network and Elimination of Open
Access Plan.
Effective January 1, 2008

A Health Benefits Bulletin dated September 1, 2007 was mailed announcing the Health Fund’s move to a single nationwide hospital and major medical network for all PPO and Open Access participants regardless of where you live or travel.   The new nationwide network is called BlueCard® and it includes all of the local Blue Cross Plans around the country.  BlueCard® is effective January 1, 2008.   In addition to changing our provider network, effective January 1, 2008, the Open Access Plan will no longer be offered as a benefit plan option.
